A couple of weeks ago my love and I went on another explora-venture. That's what I call it when we jump in the car and let the whim of the moment be our guide. We're somewhat predictable, though, our noses seem to hone in on ocean air. Jim just keeps driving until he hears the familiar sigh that escapes me when I first glimpse the glittering blue. But this time it wasn't just the waves and sailboats that let a big grin wander across my face.

Wandering through the marina I came across an old dream. A Citroen 2CV was firmly planted in the parking lot, its general condition definitely casting doubts on its mobility. The Deux Chevaux (meaning 2 hp, even though it actually boasted 9 ) was quintessential cheap transportation, beloved by students, abhorred by parents, dubbed Ugly Duck with with affection. I've only seen it three times in the states, one of which was in the movie American Graffiti. So I greeted it like an old friend. And took pictures.
You'll have to admit that you won't see many cars that look like they have quite the tale to tell. Just look at the inch of registration stickers. Or the wooden bumper secured with a string. I'm only sad that we didn't get to meet the owner, who, we were told, spends his "time messing about in boats" to quote Miss Beatrix Potter. Sigh. Again.

till the next adventure
